GUESS WHAT RIVER WAY IS BUILDING!!
The ground breaking for River Way Ranch Camp’s new housing facility officially began on the 23rd of January. It will be a spacious 11,500 square foot facility with 14 rooms and can house up to 140 campers! These new rooms are bigger than the largest rooms we currently offer on our entire property. This amazing building comes complete with its’ own mini-recreation center and will help us house the Senior Boys Division for the summer of 2013.
You can see here members of our full-time staff hard at work posing with the bulldozer to begin construction. Also present at the ground breaking were members of the Oken family, including the two brothers, Larry and Roy, with the third generation daughters, Kalene, Carrie and Lacey, all active in the family business.
Stay tuned for updates and a time lapse video that will show our newest facility going from dirt to completion!

Trip to the Junior Olympics
A few weeks back, campers Aaron and Jerod Magaize competed in the Junior Olympics for swimming! The twins posted numerous personal best times in their events and even medaled in some! Overall, the boys did spectacular at the Junior Olympics and look forward to returning to River Way for the summer of 2013!

Mahoney Gets Married
On Saturday, August 25, Mahoney and his wife, Sarah (Baby G), tied the knot again after 10 years of marriage. They renewed their vows in Las Vegas as Elvis presided over the wedding.
It was held at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel with more than 70 family, friends, camp staff and family camp people in attendance. Special shout out to the Hopkins, Bruder, Hart, Perkins, Yoder families for making the trip out for this event!
Mahoney, a man of many talents, has his son Tyler (Tank) starting early on his own, and Tyler dressed in an Elvis suit. Adorable and all, Tyler one day may be renewing the vows of other camp couples – Elvis style.
Tank walked mommy down the isle while Payton escorted Mahoney.
The highlight of the ceremony was when Elvis asked Mahoney and Baby G to repeat after him – where the whole audience chimed in. It was a magical moment. Some might say Mahoney’s vows were also a highlight of the wedding. See him for details.

New Staff Member – Summie
River Way, meet Summie!
Summie will be joining us for her first time this summer all the way from England.
Summie just got back from a two-month volunteer trip in Mozambique, Africa.
She taught at the Escholina de Boa Esperanca preschool every morning, and taught children aged 2-5. Two afternoons a week, she taught adults of all ages at ‘Edson’s English’. Some of the adults walked for over an hour just to get to class! Summie was paired with a 14 year old girl, Amalia, and they met every Saturday morning for one-on-one sessions.
After two months, it was sad for Summie to leave, but she’s eager to get to River Way to meet YOU and join the River Way Family!
