2014 THEME DAYS
Our Summer Theme Days have been chosen! Theme Days are the lifeblood and spirit of camp. Campers are encouraged to be creative and bring any type of decoration or costume they think will add a little extra fun to the particular theme of the day. Theme dressing is not mandatory and have no fear, we have plenty of decorations and costumes already on hand if your camper forgets an item!

River Way Donates To Champ Camp
River Way recently had the pleasure of presenting the money raised from our annual Camp Leadership Conference to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation’s Champ Camp.

Champ Camp is a week-long, residential summer camp experience for child burn survivors ages 5-16. Each year, approximately 130 children attend this weeklong summer camp held here at River Way during the same time as our staff training. The main focus of camp is for burn survivors to have fun and just be kids away from medical procedures and financial hardships. Camp provides a safe environment where burn survivors can play, learn, grow, gain self-esteem, and make new friends.
Our staff are always eager and happy to help out in any possible way during that week. This is why it really meant a lot for our staff to raise approximately $1,200 during our silent auction.
While that amount may not seem like it will change the world, it may change the world for one child. The goal was to raise $750 – the minimum amount needed to send one new child to Champ Camp. We know the power and transformation that Champ Camp provides for children and could not be more proud of our staff for going above and beyond.
Thank you to everyone who donated and a big special thank you to AARBF’s Champ Camp for letting us be a part of their amazing cause.

NAUTICA MALIBU TRIATHLON
On September 8th, over 100 River Way staff, campers and families traveled down to Zuma Beach to participate in the 27th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon hosted by Equinox benefiting the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This was River Way’s 4th year participating and this year had the greatest attendance yet.
In total, River Way athletes fundraised an amazing $14,056.12 that contributed to the $1,088,000 raised overall. We couldn’t have done it without all the love and support from all of our River Way and Family Camp friends and family. Thank you!!!
With 46 athletes swimming, biking and running their way through the course, an estimated 50+ more families and staff cheered them on. We invaded the area with booming music, lots of support and of course spirited posters, our specialty. You could see our neon yellow and red “Team Everyone” jerseys and shirts all over the event.
After all the athletes completed the triathlon, we shared a camp hosted lunch with all the campers and supporters. It was amazing to be able to catch up and see our camp friends again.
Congratulations to all our triathletes, we’re so proud of you!
