River Way is among the most exciting adventure camps in the nation. We have designed a range of Specialty Programs that allow campers to focus on a favorite activity during their stay while still allowing time for interaction with other campers. Expert level staff members provide campers with structured training during one or two morning activity periods.
Specialty Programs/Camps
Premier Wakeboard Camp
River Way’s Premier Wakeboard Camp is one of the best in the nation. Campers enjoy more than 20 hours of instruction and skiing/wakeboarding each week. Instruction is provided at a ratio of 1 staff member for every 3 campers, ensuring campers’ success in learning new skills and riding styles. River Way’s Wakeboard Camp is based on Pine Flat Lake using River Way’s newest activity edition, Lombardo, a 55 foot, two-story house boat, equipped with two waterslides, a barbeque, and an ADA bathroom. This program is bound to change your camper’s camp experience for the better, leaving him or her with feelings of accomplishment and confidence on the water. CLICK HERE for more information
Paintball Camp
Due to popular demand, River Way introduced its Specialty Paintball Program in 2008. Campers enjoy hours of fun experiencing the thrill of competition in River Way’s state of the art Paintball Course. Under the supervision of River Way’s Paintball Director, campers participate in mini in-house tournaments and learn the basics of refereeing. Campers have fun participating in early morning drills and shooting practice, and they work with the same group of friends and campers to improve upon skills they learn day-to-day and to progress as a team. Campers enrolled in the Paintball Camp enjoy 20 hours of practice, tournaments, and instruction each week. MORE INFO – CLICK HERE

Performing Arts Program
Campers in musical theater and performing arts can sign-up for River Way’s Performing Arts Program. The program begins with auditions, allowing the Performing Arts Director and theater staff to cast all campers who have auditioned for their most suitable role. Campers work together with their cast for the two week session, one to two periods each weekday, working on set and costume design, vocals and projection, script practice, choreography and rehearsing for their final production the last day of camp. Our younger campers typically have a role in the final production and make an appearance as the Buckaroo Division (campers aged 7-9). The Performing Arts Program is a perfect way for campers who are passionate or interested in learning more about theater to gain experience working with qualified staff. Past productions include High School Musical, School House Rock, Fame, and Grease.
Dance Program
Revamped and re-launched in Summer 2012 was River Way’s Dance Program. Campers interested in all styles of dance can sign up for the two week program and participate in a Dance Program that builds on itself. Campers of all abilities are encouraged to participate, as instruction and training is given for all levels. Dance classes are held in River Way’s Dance and Music studio, with wood flooring, full-size mirrors and a top of a line sound board. Dance classes include courses in hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, ballet, zumba, free-style and swing. Campers may participate in all styles of dance or they may focus on their desired style. Dance campers perform choreographed routines throughout the two weeks in camp and final performances are showcased on the final day of camp. Instruction is provided by accomplished dance instructors.
Tech Lab Program
Campers in the tech program will learn the most current design programs in both Mac and PC. They will work in web design, digital graphics and photography, and will even have the opportunity to work on the River Way Camp newspaper, camp slideshow and yearbook!
Film School
River Way’s film school affords campers the unique opportunity to write, direct and produce their very own films and turn their own ideas into screenplays. The Film School Director and Film School staff cast the campers to best match each role. Campers then shoot, edit and prepare the film for the screen. Campers also participate in the production of the end-of-session video viewed by all campers on the final Friday of each their two-week session.
Campers focus on screen writing, production (including lighting, sound, camera work), post-production, and editing (using programs such as Final Cut Pro, Garage Band, iMovie and premier editing software used in the industry). State-of-the-art high-definition digital cameras are provided. To view some of River Way’s Film School Movies, Click Here.
