River Way Ranch Camp has been a big part of children’s lives in the Central Valley for more than 55 years, and we have seen three generations of campers and staff excitedly spending their summers with us. We are a trusted part of our community, and have been blessed to be the recipient of many awards, as well as being consistently evaluated on health and safety standards during our American Camps Association (ACA) accreditation inspections. We are so thankful to be able to provide families with joy year after year, and that they continue to support us with their patronage, by recommending our programs to others, and by voting for our camp in the “Best of Central California, the People’s Choice” annual recognition awards that are hosted by The Fresno Bee, Fresno’s premier printed news source.
What is the Best of Central California?
Awards from Community Votes Recognize Businesses in Almost 300 Categories.
The Fresno Bee, along with presenting sponsors including Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, have spearheaded celebrating Central Valley businesses with the “Best of Central California, The People’s Choice” awards for many years now. These awards spanned 297 individual categories in the 2023 season. The categories are separated into larger divisions, Education, Agriculture, Eat & Drink, Health & Beauty, Home & Garden, Law, Motors, Real Estate, Services, Shopping, and Things to Do. The “Summer Camps” category falls under the “Education” division. Voting takes place by community members in January through March, and winners are announced in June each year. According to the Best of Central California website and magazine, in 2023 there were over 445,000 votes received from more 136,000 individuals! For the 2024 race, this number jumped to more than 783,000 votes from 204,000 voters, an incredible increase in involvement from our community!
River Way Ranch Camp’s History of Excellence
Voted 2023 Gold Winner & 2022 Bronze Winner.
Voters throughout the community have spoken! River Way Ranch Camp was selected as the Gold Finalist for “Best Summer Camp” in the 2023 season of the “Best of Central Valley, The People’s Choice Awards,” which is the first place finalist in that category! The year before, in 2022, River Way Ranch Camp was also nominated for this prestigious award, and was selected as the Bronze Winner, which is the third place finalist. A total of 656 businesses were recognized with awards, including River Way Ranch Camp. 2022 was also a banner year for the location of our camp, as Wonder Valley Ranch Resort & Conference Center was recognized as the Gold Finalist for “Best Wedding Venue.”

River Way Ranch Camp is the Best Camp in Central California in 2024
Wow! We just received the exciting news that River Way Ranch Camp was voted in as the Gold Winner for “Best Summer Camp” in the “Best of Central California” awards for the 2024 season, as well! We are so honored to have been nominated again by our community, and are so grateful for their support in recognizing our camp for this prestigious award. The winners were announced on June 2, 2024. The Fresno Bee’s article about the winners said that over 3,800 businesses were competing for the awards across all the categories, and that a total of 681 businesses were presented with one of the three possible awards, gold, silver, and bronze.
Our dedicated staff are filled with such joy to have River Way Ranch Camp be recognized in this way! It brings us such pleasure to see that our efforts have made a positive impact on our community and that so many were happy to step forward to honor our business. Our team would like to sincerely thank all of the families who voted for River Way Ranch Camp this year and in past years.
